‘Crystal Palace gearing up for huge Eberchi Eze and Marc Guehi offers’

Crystal Palace made history on Saturday with their FA Cup final win over Man City – but the futures of several Eagles stars hang in the balance.

The Croydon club will play in the league phase of the Europa League next season as a result of their Wembley success.

However, Marc Guehi and Jean-Philippe Mateta are out of contract at Selhurst Park in June 2026 – and could leave for free next January.

Wembley hero Eberechi Eze‘s deal is out of contract in 2027 and is attracting interest from Tottenham, Liverpool, Man United and Man City.

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed the bulk of their new-found European riches will be assigned to agreeing new deals with their key players.

Europa League windfall could pay for Crystal Palace contracts, says Wyness

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness insisted Crystal Palace will focus on maintaining their current squad.

The Eagles sit 12th in the Premier League table after beating Wolves 4-2 at home on Tuesday (20 May).

Oliver Glasner‘s side will discover their Europa League opponents on 29 August.

Wyness told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I don’t think it’s going to have a big impact on the transfer budget, in a funny way.

“Everyone was excited for Palace, they were a great team on the day – there’s no doubt they deserved it.

“I think it’s now more about keeping this squad together, and that’s where I see this Europa League money going.

“They’re going to need to strengthen, certainly, but they’ve got an incredible football factory in Croydon.

“But still, it’s going to be about maintaining the current squad as well as adding some strength for the dreaded Thursday-Sunday situation you’re going to be in.

“They will want to spend the money on lengthening some of the contracts, as well as trying to bring through some more young talent. The focus is going to be on keeping what they’ve got.

“It’s a great story.”

Crystal Palace join Vardy race

Meanwhile, Football Insider has revealed (20 May) that Crystal Palace have joined the race to sign Jamie Vardy on a free transfer.

The Eagles have made contact with the departing Leicester City star’s camp about a summer deal.

The 38-year-old is planning to continue his playing career and is keen to carry on scoring at the highest level in the Premier League – with Wolves also interested.
