Crystal Palace issue Eberechi Eze announcement amid Arsenal transfer links
Crystal Palace have issued an announcement about Eberechi Eze as rumours continue about him leaving the club to join Arsenal this summer.
Eze was at the forefront of Palace’s success last season as they ended their long wait for silverware by winning the FA Cup against Man City in May.
The England international has grown into one of the Premier League’s biggest talents over the last few seasons at Selhurst Park, and former scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in May that Bayern Munich are considering a move for Eze after the success of Michael Olise’s move from the Eagles to the German giants.
Brown also told Football Insider on 6 July that Arsenal are weighing up whether to sign Eze and have held internal discussions about triggering his release clause, so it is clear that he is a wanted man at the Emirates Stadium.
Football Insider revealed on 13 July that Arsenal are prepared to meet Eze’s release clause soon, while the Crystal Palace playmaker wants to join the Gunners, as also revealed by Football Insider on 14 July.

Crystal Palace reveal that Eze is back in Eagles training
The 27-year-old played for England last month after the end of the Premier League season, so was given extra time off by Palace compared to those of their squad that were not on international duty.
Eze was not pictured in the Eagles’ recent kit reveal, fuelling rumours of his potentially imminent exit to the Gunners, but Palace supporters will be relieved to know that he is back with Oliver Glasner’s squad now, as the club took to Instagram on Wednesday (16 July) to announce that he had returned to training by saying: “Ebere Eze back and smiling” with a smiling emoji.
Eze could be best served staying at Crystal Palace
Football Insider verdict
Eze’s talents know no bounds, and despite him now being 27, it does feel as if he has even more to give and better seasons to come than his most recent impressive effort.
It comes as no surprise to see him linked with moves to some of the world’s biggest clubs in Bayern and Arsenal, but from a personal point of view in terms of on-field opportunities, joining either side could turn out to be a mistake this summer.
Appearances | Goals | Assists |
167 | 40 | 28 |
He is the main man at Palace, where if he was to join either Bayern or Arsenal, he would simply be another cog in a system, and would face the threat of playing a large part of the season off the bench due to their respective plethora of options in attacking positions.
Eze should look to stay at Selhurst Park this summer solely for that reason, as another stellar season for the Eagles in the league and Europe would surely see him picked in the England squad for next year’s World Cup regardless, which will likely be his main current aim.
A move away certainly does seem likely now, however, and Palace will simply have to hope that they can smartly reinvest the potential fee received for him this summer as they prepare to enter the UEFA Conference League to try and win it.
