Crystal Palace must unleash 100% player vs Arsenal, he was the shining light vs Leeds

Crystal Palace return to action yet again on Tuesday as they take on Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

It is another massive game for Oliver Glasner’s side as he looks to win further silverware at Selhurst Park.

However, going into the match, their form has been poor, with the 4-1 defeat to Leeds on Saturday sending shockwaves throughout the fanbase.

As a result, Glasner simply has to change things up in the Carabao Cup, with the return of Justin Devenny to the lineup needed.

Justin Devenny had a great game off the bench against Leeds

Few Crystal Palace players were good against Leeds.

The match was a humiliation, with the Eagles barely laying a glove on the West Yorkshire side.

However, one star who can hold his head high for his display was Devenny, who has now returned to form for Crystal Palace after some poor previous performances.

The Northern Ireland international was brought on in the last 13 minutes and made an immediate impact.

Devenny would go on to pull a goal back for the visitors, thanks to a penalty before hitting the woodwork moments later.

According to Fotmob on 22 December, the attacking midfielder also won 100 per cent of his duels as well as his aerial duels.

Therefore, Glasner simply must consider starting the 22-year-old against Arsenal, rewarding Devenny for his strong cameo against Leeds.

What has Oliver Glasner said ahead of the Arsenal tie?

Glasner will be aiming to reach the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup on Tuesday, with a potential tie against Chelsea waiting in the next round.

However, Palace will need to be at their best if they want to overcome the current Premier League table-toppers.

Looking ahead at the game, Glasner was quick to highlight Arsenal’s set-piece threat to Crystal Palace on 22 December as he looks to cause a cup upset.

He said: “I think the game will be different to [Leeds]. Arsenal will have a few set-pieces. I know that we can defend them better, and it’s also not always talking about big problems. We have a chance to do it better.

“We have to give the players solutions. That’s the job of myself and my staff. And then we’ll give them the confidence that they can defend it and also score goals.

“We won against Brentford with two set-piece goals, and defended there very well. They’re a team that’s really good in set-pieces.

“It’s always a good challenge, and if we take this challenge, we can grow and learn from it. This will be our approach.”
