‘Crystal Palace players should have gone ballistic at Daniel Munoz vs Ipswich’
Daniel Munoz deserved to face the wrath of his teammates despite Crystal Palace beating Ipswich Town 1-0 on Saturday, Clinton Morrison believes.
Oliver Glasner’s side looked set to share the points at Selhurst Park on 8 March, with neither the Eagles nor the Tractor Boys able to break the deadlock, especially with Palace having no Jean-Philippe Mateta.
That was until Ismaila Sarr popped up in Ipswich’s penalty box with just eight minutes of normal time left to play, lifting the ball over Alex Palmer and paying tribute to his injured teammate.
It could have been a much easier afternoon for Glasner’s side, had Ipswich’s Jacob Greaves been sent off for a last-ditch foul on Sarr, but Keith Hackett told Football Insider that Simon Hooper made the correct decision in only booking him.
Palace had earlier chances to take the lead at Selhurst Park, not least through Eddie Nketiah and Eberechi Eze, but Morrison pointed at Munoz’s squandered chance as a key moment in the game.
Daniel Munoz selfishness takes the better of him
Speaking live via Sky Sports News during the game [8 March, 4:37pm], Morrison said: “Leif Davis is dispossessed, Daniel Munoz is then 1-on-1 and Palmer makes a good save. He goes for goal but he should square it because Sarr’s got a tap-in.
“Players are too nice nowadays because I’d be going mad at him, absolutely going ballistic at him. He’s got to square it, think about your teammates not your personal glory.”

Oliver Glasner to take Crystal Palace to new heights
Glasner had been under serious pressure at Palace just a few months ago, but with the team climbing to 11th in the Premier League table after Saturday’s victory, there is far more positivity at Selhurst Park.
With Adam Wharton back from injury, and impressing again in midfield, the back three finally working as a unit, and Sarr scoring his sixth league goal, all they need now is Mateta back from injury.

The Eagles have not finished either of the last two Premier League seasons with a positive goal difference but that could be about to change as they sit on plus three right now.
Of course, losing their star striker to a freak accident could impact the run-in until the end of the campaign but it should allow Nketiah to get a run of games and get the goals flowing further.
