Crystal Palace ‘push to agree Oliver Glasner contract’ after ‘huge’ exit bombshell
Crystal Palace are pushing to agree terms over a new contract with Oliver Glasner before the end of the season as talks have already taken place.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the Eagles are doing all they can to extend the manager’s stay.
This comes after the Eagles were dealt a “huge” blow by the departure of sporting director Dougie Freedman, who is set to take a new role overseas.
Freedman has been in the role since 2017 and has been credited for the signings of the likes of Adam Wharton, Marc Guehi and Michael Olise.
Wharton has attracted interest from Man City and Guehi is a key target for Liverpool this summer, in a representation of Palace’s impressive recruitment.
However, as rumours swirl about the future of a number of key players, the Eagles are determined to avoid too much upheaval this summer.
Glasner’s current contract is set to run until June 2026, but the renewal of his deal to extend his stay at Selhurst Park has now become a priority.

Crystal Palace hold Oliver Glasner talks amid exit fears
Brown previously told Football Insider that Palace want to keep Jean-Philippe Mateta and are pulling out all the stops amid interest from Man United.
Now, the former scout who remains very well-connected within the game after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, has insisted it is crucial Palace keep hold of their manager amid fears of a summer exodus.
“Stability is absolutely crucial for Crystal Palace,” he told Football Insider.
“They’ve been a very stable club in the Premier League, and it feels like this summer they’re coming to a really important time.
“Their better players are attracting plenty of interest.
“The spine of that team – Dean Henderson, Marc Guehi, Adam Wharton, Ebere Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta – are the focus of that speculation.
“Behind the scenes, they’re doing everything they can to keep them at the club and maintain that stability.
“That will then allow them to push forward and build on what they’ve got.
“It looks like Guehi will be allowed to leave, there’s not a lot they can do about that.
“But that would be just one player – losing three or four would be a major problem and one they are trying to avoid at all costs.
“The manager’s future is crucial to that too.
“Especially after losing their director of football, which will come as a huge blow.
“Glasner has done an excellent job since he went in there and they want to keep making progress, they value him very highly.
“They’re going to try to reach an agreement with him before the end of the season, and I hear those conversations have already started.”

Liverpool lead Chelsea and Newcastle in Marc Guehi race
Despite Palace’s plans to keep the majority of their squad together this summer, Guehi is widely expected to make a move away from Selhurst Park.
The centre-back will have just 12 months remaining on his contract in June, and Palace are keen not to lose him for free in 2026.
Football Insider exclusively revealed on 17 March that Liverpool are leading the race for Guehi, while Newcastle, Chelsea and Tottenham are also in the race.
This comes after Football Insider revealed on 14 March that Liverpool have yet to reach an agreement with Ibrahima Konate over a new contract.
