Crystal Palace respond to Arsenal’s new Eberechi Eze move

Arsenal could miss out on a deal to sign Eberechi Eze this summer as Crystal Palace are standing firm on their asking price, sources have told Football Insider.

Eze, 27, has a £68million release clause in his contract which is set to expire before the Premier League season begins and Palace’s stance is that they will not sell for less.

Arsenal remain strongly interested in the England star, but are only prepared to make a move at this stage if they can negotiate a lower fee.

Sources say the attacking midfielder is not likely to push for a move away from Selhurst Park and is happy at the club as they remain in a strong position to deter interest.

Oliver Glasner’s side will kick off their season in the Community Shield against Liverpool in less than two weeks, and have no plans to let Eze leave after the season begins.

This comes after industry insider Mick Brown told Football Insider that Crystal Palace are confident of keeping Eze and will not sell unless his release clause is activated.

Glasner is keen to keep a strong squad as the Eagles prepare to take part in their first-ever European campaign following their FA Cup win last season.

It has been a slow start to the transfer window at Selhurst Park with just £2million spent on the arrivals of Borna Sosa and Walter Benitez to add depth to their squad.

The lack of incoming activity has only strengthened Palace’s resolve, as they are not prepared to let key players leave and weaken the squad.

Brown told Football Insider on 26 June that Eze won’t leave Palace for less than £68million as Glasner is keen to keep his best players at the club.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed last month that Arsenal remain undecided about moving for Eze despite having enquired about his availability.

The finances involved in triggering his release clause have made the deal difficult for Mikel Arteta’s side after the big-money arrivals of Noni Madueke and Viktor Gyokeres.

Marc Guehi ‘has his heart set’ on joining Liverpool

Eze is not the only player being heavily linked with a move away from Selhurst Park this summer, as Liverpool remain very interested in signing Marc Guehi.

Brown told Football Insider on 29 July that Guehi has his heart set on Liverpool and is prepared to snub renewed interest from Tottenham in favour of the Reds.

Crystal Palace’s captain wants to play regularly at the highest level and compete for Champions League and Premier League trophies on a consistent basis.

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on 28 July that Liverpool still have a “concrete” interest in Guehi and are lining up a fresh offer in the coming weeks.
