Crystal Palace star Mateta sends message to Daniel Munoz after Man United latest
Jean-Philippe Mateta sent a message to Crystal Palace teammate Daniel Munoz amid an update on the striker’s move to Man United.
The Frenchman enjoyed another productive season with the Eagles, scoring 14 goals in 37 Premier League appearances.
Mateta suffered a brutal head injury in an FA Cup match against Millwall, which impacted the striker’s goal-scoring output.
But despite being forced to receive 25 stitches after the challenge from Liam Roberts [BBC Sport], the ex-Mainz striker remained a vital part of Palace’s side.
Mateta led the line as Palace secured a historic FA Cup final victory over Man City, and with strikers in demand this summer, several teams, including United, are interested in signing the 27-year-old.

Jean-Philippe Mateta close to signing new Crystal Palace contract
Despite interest from United, Palace are making “good progress” in their talks over a new contract for Mateta, former Red Devils chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider.
With several key players garnering interest this summer, retaining the Frenchman’s services would be a major boost to Oliver Glasner.
One of those players was Munoz, but the Colombian penned a new deal in April to extend his stay at Selhurst Park [BBC Sport].
Following a successful season, the 29-year-old got married and Mateta was in attendance, sharing a photo with his teammate on his Instagram story with the caption: “Felicidades Maquina”, which translates to “Congratulations Machine”.

Crystal Palace receive huge Europa Leauge boost after John Textor agrees to sale
Football Insider Verdict
UEFA threatened to put a dampener on the Eagles’ wonderful season, thanks to their rules on multi-club ownership rules.
John Textor’s majority shareholding in Palace and French side Lyon means that both teams cannot compete in the Europa League at the same time.
But the American businessman has now agreed to sell his shares to New York Jets owner Woody Johnson.
Whilst unconfirmed by UEFA themselves, Sky Sports chief reporter Kaveh Solhekol shared on X that “UEFA will confirm in days that Palace can play in Europa League.”
This will be a major boost in the Eagles’ battle to retain several of their key players this summer as they can now, once again, offer European football.
