Crystal Palace are yet to make any commitments in their search to replace outgoing manager Oliver Glasner this summer.

The Austrian is seeing out the final months of his time at Selhurst Park, and hopes to go out with a bang by winning the Conference League.

The Eagles are unbeaten in their last four games across all competitions, and will face two-time runners-up Fiorentina in the quarter-finals.

Glasner’s intention to leave this summer has been public knowledge for some time now, although there was a period in which he looked close to receiving the sack early.

Thomas Frank, who left Tottenham in February, has now been named the favourite to replace the 51-year-old this summer.

Football Insider exclusively revealed in February that Palace had sounded out Frank ahead of a potential move this summer, with decision-makers impressed by his time at Brentford.

The Dane spent almost seven years at the Gtech Community Stadium as he guided the Bees to the heights of the Premier League, before joining Tottenham last summer.

There is little doubt that his time at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium was a complete and utter disaster.

Frank left the Lilywhites battling relegation after winning just seven of his 26 Premier League games in charge, with only two of those wins coming at home.

The Dane’s Brentford were physical, energetic and exciting to watch, but his Tottenham were slow, sluggish and incredibly boring.

It is his time before this season that Palace appear to be focusing on, and for good reason.

The Eagles are a club of a similar size to that of Brentford, with both teams sharing similar hopes of an unlikely push for European football.

Glasner did it by winning the FA Cup last season, and decision-makers at Selhurst Park will be keen to know that feeling again.

According to one major bookmaker, Frank is now the favourite for the job at 5/2, while Robbie Keane (7/4) and Sean Dyche (8/1), among others, remain in contention.

Frank’s reputation in the Premier League has taken huge damage over the course of the season, but it is not irreparable.

The Dane’s time at Brentford will not be forgotten in a hurry, and his next job could be just what he needs.

“Thomas is an excellent coach,” said Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, after Frank was sacked. “He is an extraordinary man as well and he has proven that in the Premier League.

“We know our responsibility is beyond just performance. Sometimes results dictate what happens to us. I wish him all the very best for whatever he wants to do next.”
