Crystal Palace transfers: Keith Wyness shares takeover transformation verdict
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has insisted Crystal Palace takeover suitors Sportsbank are unlikely to have an impact in the January transfer window.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – claimed there will be no “panic buying or selling” at Selhurst Park despite the club’s lowly league position.
US billionaire John Textor has previously committed to selling his stake in Crystal Palace, which stands at around 45%.
According to The Athletic (19 December), three parties have made offers to Textor – with the preferred bid coming from investment group Sportsbank, who are in the process of demonstrating proof of funds.
However, the report claims the Sportsbank deal is likely to be an investment in Textor’s Eagle Football holding company with a view to helping him fund a full takeover of Palace.
It is claimed a US-Saudi consortium and a group led by DoorDash founder Stanley Tang have also made offers.
Palace remain in the relegation fight with just days until the January transfer window opens.
‘No panic buying or selling at Crystal Palace’, says Wyness
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “We need to know what the vision is from Sportsbank.
“I don’t think things will move quick enough for Sportsbank to have an effect in January.
“Steve Parish will have already decided what he wants to do and decided the resources he will allocate to January.
“It’ll take some time for Sportsbank to get into the club and see what’s going to happen for the summer.

“Even though Palace are at the wrong end of the table right now, I think they’ve got enough resources to get out of the situation.
“I don’t think there’ll be any panic buying or selling.”
