Curtis Jones breaks his silence on Liverpool penalty heartbreak with emotional message

Liverpool were knocked out of the Champions League on Tuesday (11 March) and Curtis Jones has broken his silence on his penalty heartbreak.

The Reds were defeated 1-0 on the night at Anfield after an Ousmane Dembele goal in the 12th minute, but neither team managed to break the 1-1 deadlock they were in on aggregate.

Alisson Becker put in a brilliant performance in the first leg, but he was unable to save any of the four penalties he faced from the French outfit.

Unfortunately for Liverpool, both Darwin Nunez and Jones had their penalties saved as Arne Slot’s men went crashing out of the competition.

Jones was a substitute in the game, but his impact was ultimately the complete opposite of what he or Slot had been hoping for.

Curtis Jones reveals what he ‘can’t live without’

Jones had a game to forget about PSG, but he has quickly taken to Instagram to address his miss in an emotional message to fans.

He said, “Stepping up & trying to help the team in every moment I can is the type of person that I am. This comes with risk and failing, last night I got a taste of that!

“I can live with missing but I can’t live without taking the responsibility. 10 to go. Starting with a cup final Sunday!”

Liverpool will be without a key player in the EFL Cup final

Jones might be looking ahead to Sunday’s EFL Cup final against Newcastle, but Liverpool could be without a couple of significant players.

Ibrahima Konate had to be replaced in extra time against PSG due to injury, but there is even more concern surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The left-back was substituted in the second half of the match after appearing to hurt his ankle, and Slot has admitted he would be “surprised” if the England international played against Newcastle.
