Curtis Jones sends two-word message to Liverpool fans after confronting Doucoure

Curtis Jones took to social media to let the Liverpool fans know how the players feel after being sent off in their thrilling 2-2 draw with Everton on Wednesday (February 12).

The 24-year-old was one of four players and staff members who picked up red cards after confronting Abdoulaye Doucoure for celebrating in front of the Liverpool fans.

Jones had previously received backlash from his own fans for suggesting that Eden Hazard was a better player than current teammate Mohamed Salah.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former PGMOL chief and ex-FIFA official Keith Hackett believes Liverpool and Everton will likely be fined by the FA for their failure to control their players.

Hackett also suggested that the police are likely to get involved after a bottle was thrown from Everton the stands into the melee, striking Jordan Pickford among others.

Liverpool missed the opportunity to go nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table but remain seven points clear of second-placed Arsenal in the race for the title.

Mikel Arteta’s side will travel to relegation-threatened Leicester City on Saturday (February 15) hoping to close the gap on the leaders.

Jones has established himself as a key player under Arne Slot, starting 18 of his 30 games across all competitions, scoring three goals, and providing six assists in his 1594 minutes of action.

Slot and his assistant Sipke Hulshoff were then sent off after the Liverpool boss appeared to say something to Oliver while shaking each other’s hands, with Hackett praising Oliver for how he handled the situation.

The central midfielder took to Instagram after his involvement in the late drama to show a united front with his teammates, saying: “always together.”

Jones is set to miss Liverpool’s next Premier League fixture against Wolves on Sunday (February 16) due to his red card in the game against Everton.

Slot, who received a straight red, is still waiting to hear the extent of his punishment after the Premier League deleted their statement saying he would be banned for two games.
