Daniel Farke backed to stay at Leeds United – ex-PL CEO

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness believes Daniel Farke should stay on as the Leeds United manager next season even if they don’t achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested Farke has been accepted by the Whites fans since joining the club last summer.

Leeds currently find themselves third in the Championship table, three points behind second-placed Ipswich Town with only one game left to play.

Farke will be hoping a victory over Southampton at Elland Road will be enough for his side to leapfrog the Tractor Boys, who need just a point against second-bottom Huddersfield Town to secure their place in the Premier League next season.

Daniel Farke to remain as Leeds United manager next season

Wyness believes the German boss has the right mentality to be the Leeds manager and is hoping he can mastermind an immediate return to the top flight following the relegation last year.

He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “I think Farke has done alright.

“He looks to be well accepted by the fans from what I can see.

“I like his personality. I think he is a scrapper and a fighter, and he does fit the Leeds mentality.

“Hopefully, they will get promotion over the line.

“But if they don’t, I still think he would be the right one to stay next season and try and do it again.”
