Daniel Farke: Leeds ‘confident’ of Premier League safety with Tottenham game on horizon – expert

Daniel Farke could be judged on whether Leeds United can achieve Premier League survival with three “huge” games coming up, sources have told Football Insider.

Key home fixtures against both Burnley and Wolves could prove decisive in Leeds’ bid for survival, while they will also face a Tottenham side who are without a win this year.

With seven league games still to play, plus the FA Cup quarter final against West Ham, Leeds remain four points above the bottom three and in a strong position.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, any speculation about Farke’s position has been dismissed, but Premier League survival is crucial.

This comes as some sections of the support have called for Leeds to look for a new manager amid building frustrations about the style of play and lack of goal threat.

Daniel Farke under pressure after relegation verdict

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider on 24 March that Leeds would consider Farke’s position if they were to suffer relegation this season.

Leeds are four points clear of West Ham as things stand, and have picked up points to pull away with just two defeats in their last seven Premier League games.

Despite having not scored in any of their last four games, Leeds have become hard to beat, and when compared to some of their rivals, have some key strengths.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “They’re four points above the relegation zone. The concern has been the lack of goals in recent games.

“Leeds have failed to score in their last four games, but they’re not conceding too many goals either so it’s no massive concern.

“If they can turn some of those draws into wins they’ll move themselves further clear of trouble and I’m sure they’ll be confident that they will secure Premier League survival.

“They’ve still got to play Burnley and Wolves at home. If they can pick up maximum points from those games they’ll be almost there I think as good as staying up and then they’ve also got Spurs to play as well so three huge games still to play against rivals down at the wrong end of the table.

“I’d still be confident that Leeds have more than enough to stay up and as I said a lot of that will be down to Farke so he deserves a lot of credit.”

Leeds United’s updated stance on Farke’s future revealed

There have been suggestions that Leeds could look to part ways with Farke, as their uncertainty from last summer may not have completely faded.

However, Football Insider revealed on 28 March that Leeds have no plans to sack Farke and have waved away “crazy” claims that his position could be questioned.

After four consecutive league games without a goal, fans have begun to question the manager, with some insisting the style of play is not good enough.

Despite results ultimately showing progress after a terrible start to the season, the lack of wins have raised frustrations among sections of the support.

However, Leeds believe Farke has done a good job in the Premier League and is close to guiding them to what looked like an unlikely survival at one stage of the season.
