Daniel Farke left red-faced after Leeds United comments backfired vs Bournemouth
Leeds United were denied a second home win of the season after a last-gasp Bournemouth equaliser from Eli Junior Kroupi.
Leeds drew with Bournemouth, but they played well despite the result and were good value for their eighth point of the season.
Sunderland, Burnley and Leeds are searching for Premier League survival this season and should they do so, they’d be the fifth trio of promoted sides to have stayed up after promotion.
Leeds are still without first-choice goalkeeper Lucas Perri, and that may have played a part in the two goals they conceded to Bournemouth.

Daniel Farke’s set-piece coach comments backfire
Ahead of Leeds’ match against Bournemouth, head coach Daniel Farke made comments about Leeds’ lack of a set-piece coach.
Farke said, “I don’t believe in this modern hype,” in response to a question about the club not having a set-piece coach.
They could have benefited from one on Saturday, conceding both goals against Bournemouth from set plays.
The first was particularly embarrassing as Brenden Aaronson was positioned to stop a low free-kick from Antoine Semenyo, but was placed incorrectly, and Bournemouth scored from a low driven shot from the Ghanaian.
Daniel Farke admits Brendan Aaronson mistake
Aaronson should have been more to the right of the wall that Karl Darlow had placed, but Semenyo spotted the gap and punished Leeds.
Farke discussed the misplaced American with BBC Radio Leeds, saying: “You want your wall to jump and lay your player down. But the player, against the right-footed player [Semenyo], has to lay more centrally and not too much in the corner.
Teams without set piece coaches | Scored | Conceded |
Bournemouth | 2 | 0 |
Crystal Palace | 3 | 1 |
Everton | 1 | 0 |
Leeds United | 1 | 4 |
Manchester United | 1 | 3 |
West Ham United | 1 | 7 |
Wolves | 0 | 2 |
“Because a right-footed player, if he goes under the wall, he always goes that way and not into the corner with the outside of his foot. So the position of Brenden was not perfect. On this level, these little mistakes are punished.”
Farke will hope Leeds can stem their tide of set-piece goals conceded as the Lilywhites look to survive in the Premier League.
