Daniel Farke protected this Leeds United star, now he must take final chance to prove himself vs Burnley
Daniel Farke is always very fair when it comes to praising and criticising his Leeds United stars on and off the pitch.
Leeds lost 2-1 to Tottenham, a result which saw them sink to 15th in the Premier League table after seven games, but with two wins and two draws, the team are four points clear of the relegation zone.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin continues to frustrate in front of goal, while Joel Piroe struggles for game time, Dan James and Willy Gnonto suffer injuries, and hitting the back of the net consistently remains an issue.
His players have just had the chance to go away on international duty, prove themselves away from Elland Road, and come back to West Yorkshire feeling fresh to take on Burnley on Saturday, 18 October.

What has Daniel Farke said about Brenden Aaronson?
Despite his difficulties so far this season, having yet to notch a single goal contribution across all competitions, Farke has continued to stand by Brenden Aaronson at Elland Road.
Speaking last month [The Yorkshire Post], Farke said: “We know Brenden has challenges in his offensive game in terms of decision-making, being a bit clearer and more straightforward. This is something we speak a lot about.
“Sometimes, because he is so on it, he is perhaps losing a bit of his calmness. But it’s not helpful if everyone is always criticising him,” and the American international must now prove to everyone else his talents.
If he can return to Leeds and have the same kind of impact he managed on international duty, it is extremely likely that his name will be highlighted for positive reasons against the Clarets.
Brenden Aaronson’s cameo vs Australia | Stats [FotMob] |
Minutes played | 26 |
Chances created (Big chances) | 2 (1) |
Successful dribbles | 100% (1/1) |
Recoveries | 1 |

However, he might be running out of time to prove himself to the fans, who want to see more from the creative midfielder. If the fans refuse to accept him, Farke will have to listen.
Aaronson can play a huge role after his international exploits
Despite only featuring for the final 26 minutes of America’s friendly against Australia, the 26-year-old helped to claim a 2-1 win and put on a show while doing so.
During his small cameo, Aaronson created two chances, one of which was a big chance, completed his only attempted dribble, dived into two tackles, and won 75 per cent of his ground duels.
He often finds himself getting stuck into challenges, but actually winning the ball back and pushing Leeds up the pitch does not always go hand-in-hand with his displays at Elland Road.
If this version of Aaronson returns to Elland Road ahead of facing Scott Parker‘s side, not only could he be key to victory, but he would repay the faith shown in him by the manager.
