Daniel Gabbidon delivers damning Twitter verdict on Arsenal squad after defeat to Chelsea
By Matt Farr
Pundit Daniel Gabbidon has branded the Arsenal squad as a “testimonial team” on Twitter following the defeat to Chelsea on Sunday.
The Gunners ended a miserable week of back-to-back defeats with a hapless display against Premier League leaders Chelsea, following a shock home defeat to Watford on Tuesday.
The Stamford Bridge result saw Arsenal slip 12 points behind Antonio Conte’s side in the title race, and their hopes of a spectacular recovery now look dead in the water.
Former West Ham defender Gabbidon took to his personal Twitter account on Monday to berate the performance of Arsenal’s players, describing the display as “like a testimonial team”, with “a bunch of guys who turn up on the day, throw their kit on, and play off the cuff.”

The damning verdict came in response to a post from former West Ham team-mate Dean Ashton, who cited Arsenal’s mental problems as the cause of heir downfall.

He insisted that Arsenal already had the players within the squad to do serious damage, but that they constantly rely on being pushed and tested by the manager.
Arsene Wenger has often witnessed his Premier League title bid come unstuck well-before the business end of the season, and their trophy curse appears to have struck again as early as February this year.
The Chelsea defeat may only be the start of a defining month for the Gunners, as they are also set to take on European heavyweights Bayern Munich in the Champions League knockout-round later this month.
In other Arsenal news, Arsenal should look towards one of these three players in the summer to solve this problem area.
