‘Daniel Levy could now agree Tottenham takeover to get out of the firing line’
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has suggested Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy could follow Man United and bring in a new partner to “get out of the firing line”.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 67-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the much-maligned Spurs chief will “have been watching United with one eye” after Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s arrival at Old Trafford.
Levy has faced the ire of Tottenham fans and pundits alike with Ange Postecoglou‘s side struggling for form in the 2024-25 campaign.
It was widely reported last year that he has been in talks to sell a 10% stake in Spurs that could value the club at up to £3.75billion.
Ratcliffe arrived at Man United last year, taking control of footballing operations after buying almost 29% of the club’s shares.
He has since absorbed criticism for on-pitch results and was confronted by angry supporters following the clash with Fulham last week.
Levy could ‘get out of the firing line’ by handing over control at Tottenham
Wyness told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “Levy will have been watching Man United with one eye.
“The Glazers have got themselves out of the firing line by bringing Ratcliffe in.
“Levy may be thinking he should get a partner in and let them get the flak. That could be what the discussions are about right now.
“I know Daniel, he won’t be happy right now – but he’s been through it before.

“He has probably taken the most out of any big club, with Spurs being a very profitable club. He’s extracted more than any other owner.
“He’s done well with the stadium and the commercial opportunities – but it’s a football club, and they’ve got to win football matches. The pressure is on.”
