Daniel Levy may price Cameron Carter-Vickers out of move after Tottenham update – pundit

Alan Hutton has suggested Daniel Levy could price Cameron Carter-Vickers out of a permanent move from Tottenham to Celtic.

The former Spurs defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 24-year-old would be “desperate” to turn his temporary stay at Parkhead permanent.

The Daily Record (4 June) claim Carter-Vickers has agreed personal terms with the Bhoys but that the two clubs are still thrashing out a transfer deal.

The same outlet claim (23 May) Celtic have an optional purchase clause of £6million, which could rise to £10million with add-ons, which they can trigger before June 15.

The defender told the Scottish Sun (1 June) he is looking for a permanent move from Tottenham this summer.

Hutton admitted it would be a shame to see Carter-Vickers not return to Parkhead after impressing on loan.

Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “This is a situation Daniel Levy has found himself in quite a lot over the years. He has all the power, it’s kind of up to him and it’s very difficult to deal with that.

“It is a shame because obviously the player is desperate to Celtic. He’s already said he’s happy with negotiations so far, it’s just been held up by this. It’s a shame for him, it’s a shame for the club.

“Daniel Levy wants the most money possible. Hopefully, Levy and the club can sort it out.

“It all has to come down to the player himself. He’s not going to get game time at Tottenham.

“I get they’ve put an investment into him and they want to get their money back but don’t overstep the mark and price him out a move.”

Carter-Vickers’ contract at Spurs runs until the summer of 2023.
