‘Daniel Levy to step back after inspired new Tottenham hire’
Tottenham have launched an unexpected raid on Arsenal in recent days, appointing the Gunners well-liked ex-CEO Vinai Venkatesham.
He spent four years between 2020 and 2024 as chief executive at Spurs’ north London rivals and will join up with the Lilywhites this summer.
The move comes amid protests from Tottenham fans over Daniel Levy‘s running of the club – with Ange Postecoglou’s side sitting 15th in the Premier League.
It has been widely reported that Levy is open to selling a minority stake in the club for a valuation of £3.75billion.
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – has claimed he expects the long-serving Spurs chairman to step back in the aftermath of Venkatesham’s arrival.
‘Venkatesham is an inspired hire’, says Wyness
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Wyness claimed Venkatesham will lead the commercial side at Tottenham – allowing Levy to step back.
The British-Indian executive previously worked on the running of London’s 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Position | Team | Played | Points | GD |
13 | Everton | 32 | 38 | -4 |
14 | Man United | 32 | 38 | -7 |
15 | Tottenham | 32 | 37 | 11 |
16 | Wolves | 32 | 35 | -14 |
17 | West Ham | 32 | 35 | -18 |
Wyness insisted his arrival is an “inspired hire” for Tottenham.
He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “He has a very good, long-lasting relationship with Daniel Levy.
“While Arsenal are the local rivals, at top levels they did work well together.
“He’s a very good operator, and I think it’s the commercial side Levy will want him to run. He’ll trust him to do that, because he’s a successful operator.
“He understands the personality of Daniel. It’s not going to be two people trying to get to know each other – there’s a history.
“For the first time, Daniel will be able to leave it hands-off on the commercial side.
“I think it’s an inspired hire and he will do very well.”

Tottenham weigh up Iraola and Silva appointments
Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed on Tuesday (15 April) that Tottenham are keen to make a manager appointment as soon as possible if they decide to ditch Postecoglou at the end of this season.
Postecoglou’s exit could be sealed as soon as this week if Spurs suffer defeat in the Europa League.
Tottenham chiefs are already evaluating potential successors – with Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola and Fulham’s Marco Silva top candidates as things stand.
