Daniel Levy told to ‘think again’ who he sells his Tottenham stake to after ‘hostile’ twist

Tottenham may not be able to block to whom Daniel Levy shares his stake in the club.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, amid Levy still having an indirect investment in Spurs.

Levy could sell his stake in Spurs for £800million despite initially valuing it at £1billion, with the club’s former executive chairman already in talks with a consortium over a deal.

There is also a possibility that Spurs’ owners could buy out Levy, if a suitable buyer can not be found.

Buyer may ‘not be welcomed’ at Tottenham

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – states that Levy needs to have “Spurs’ best interests at heart” when agreeing to any deal.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness doesn’t see the club being able to “block” any deal that Levy agrees to.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “I don’t know the detail of the shareholder agreement, and as to whether there’s any ability to block such a transfer.

“I doubt that there would be. But certainly any buyer coming in would want to be part of a positive situation with the club going forward rather than coming into, as I say, a hostile scenario where they’re not welcomed and frozen out of certain things.

“So I think it might be in Daniel’s best interests to think again and if he has Spurs’ best interests at heart, which we’d hope he has after all the time he’s spent there, that he actually thinks again, I say, and finds a group that is potentially more acceptable to the Lewis group, the majority owners.”

Tottenham hit with summer transfer blow

Spurs could be priced out of a move for Yan Diomande in the summer, with RB Leipzig valuing the forward at £80m.

A number of European clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester United, hold an interest in the 19-year-old, who has scored eight goals in 21 appearances this season.

Diomande is in his first season at RB Leipzig after joining from Leganes in July 2025, and he has already earned nine caps for the Ivory Coast national team.
