Danny Ings sends message as Burnley complete signing

Burnley have completed the signing of James Ward-Prowse on loan as they look to boost their survival hopes.

The midfielder had a tough time at West Ham since Nuno Espirito Santo’s arrival, which limited his game time.

As a result, Ward-Prowse had been linked to multiple clubs, with Burnley the ones to eventually land his signature.

Now, many people have reacted to the news, including his former teammate Danny Ings.

Currently, Burnley are one of the favourites to be relegated from the Premier League this season.

While the Clarets aren’t at the bottom of the division, they are 10 points from safety in 19th.

This issue with Scott Parker’s side is that they have been unable to turn draws into wins for many weeks, with their last three matches ending in a stalemate.

However, the manager will be hoping that the addition of Ward-Prowse can fix this issue, with the midfielder being renowned for his free-kick ability.

Upon announcing the transfer on Burnley’s Instagram page on 28 January, many were quick to react, including former Burnley and current Sheffield United star, Ings.

The striker simply commented three heart-eyed emojis on the post.

Can Ward-Prowse be a success at Burnley?

Despite his recent falloff in the Premier League, there is every chance that Ward-Prowse can be a success in the Premier League.

According to Fotmob on 29 January, his Premier League stats this season have not been terrible.

So far, per match, he is averaging a 89.6 per cent passing completion, 2.60 chances created and 2.17 successful crosses.

Therefore, if he can add to Burnley, it could help a side that struggles to score finally hit the back of the net on a more consistent basis.

This, combined with his free-kick ability, could be the catalyst that the Clarets need to pull themselves back in the race for survival.

Now, the task for Parker will be to ensure that Ward-Prowse can hit the ground running at Turf Moor after being sidelined for so long.

With Sunderland up next for Burnley, which is no doubt a winnable game, but the midfielder could be the key to ensuring the visitors claim all three points.
