Pundit Danny Mills has hailed the consistency and goalscoring ability of Tottenham striker Harry Kane.
The 23-year-old has topped the goalscoring charts once again for Tottenham this season, leading the way with 24 goals from 30 appearances in all competitions.
Kane is just one goal shy of netting 20 goals or more in the Premier League for the third consecutive campaign, capping off what has been a meteoric rise for the England international star.
But Mills, speaking on the Premier League Daily show on Sky Sports on Thursday morning, recalled that people were quick to write Kane off as a ‘one season wonder.’
He had burst onto the scene after being handed a regular starting role at the club during the 2014-15 campaign, in which he scored 31 times in all competitions.
Mills said: “It is the third season in a row Harry Kane has done this. I think when Harry first burst on the scene, we all thought he might be a one season wonder, a new boy coming into it having a fantastic season.
“He doesn’t tend to start scoring until November either. He always has a lean period in the early part of the season. But he’s adapting all the time.
“He scores an array of different kinds of goals. He’s one of the most confident strikers that you will see, he will shoot on sight no matter what.”
Kane’s impressive form has earned him a place on the shortlist for the PFA Player of the Year award, as well as the PFA Young Player of the Year award, where he will do battle with Tottenham team-mate Dele Alli.
More importantly, however, Kane has fired Tottenham well-ahead of their rivals in the Premier League title race, and have spent much of the campaign in second place behind league leaders Chelsea.
Tottenham look all but certain to finish ahead of north London rivals Arsenal this season, with the Gunners currently trailing by 14 points in sixth place.
