Danny Mills elated as ‘Remarkable’ Harry Kane news emerges
Danny Mills has warned Jose Mourinho to not rush Tottenham talisman Harry Kane back from injury.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Whites and England defender delivered his verdict after Mourinho revealed the England captain had returned from an ankle injury ahead of schedule.
Kane suffered injuries on both ankles during their 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at the end of January and his manager initially stated he would miss at least a couple of weeks of action.
However, speaking ahead of their game with Chelsea in midweek the two times Championship League winner revealed he expected Kane to return after their game with West Brom.
However, Mills has warned the Tottenham number 10 has a past of returning from injury prematurely.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “We’ve seen Harry Kane come very quickly from injuries in the past and it hasn’t always worked.
“The medical team are superb. Premier League medical staff these days are some of the best around and are absolutely brilliant.
“They’ve got to protect Harry and they know that and it’s vitally important they do so.
“When he’s ready to return he will and we’ve seen him have remarkable recoveries in the past but he’s not quite been fit and that’s a little bit of a problem.
“Obviously now when you look at it he’s only had a couple of weeks out so if he’s recovered and responded very, very well and if he’s fit, has trust in himself and looks good in training then, that’s remarkable and Mourinho is going to play him.”
Kane has suffered ankle injuries in the past which have seen him miss 93 days of action, or 16 games, across three different spells.
