Danny Mills has claimed Kiko Casilla gives him “heart palpitations” despite his outstanding Leeds United record this season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Elland Road defender explained that Casilla’s risk-taking style in goal does worry him even though he fits in “perfectly” to the team moulded by Marcelo Bielsa.
The Spaniard kept his fourth consecutive clean sheet as Leeds beat Hull City 2-0 at Elland Road last night to secure a seventh Championship win in a row.
It lifted Bielsa’s side back to the top of the division and 11 points clear of Fulham, who are in third place.
Casilla has conceded just 10 goals from Leeds’ 21 league matches this season and only three during their unbeaten 10-game run that has made them hot favourites for automatic promotion.
Asked about Casilla, Mills told Football Insider: “Occasionally there are one or two issues and he does give you heart palpitations from time to time.”
“But the style Leeds and Bielsa want to play, he fits in perfectly. Also defensively they’ve been exceptional this season.”
Casilla has been the undisputed number one at Elland Road since signing in January from Real Madrid.
He joined on a free transfer but Leeds bought out his contract at the Spanish giants and handed him a deal that made him their best-paid player.
The Spaniard could still be faced with a lengthy ban after being charged by the Football Association for racially abuse against Charlton Athletic in September.
In the latest Leeds United news, it can be REVEALED there has been a major Ben White transfer development.
