‘Danny Rohl could quit Sheffield Wednesday after Chansiri bust-up’
Danny Rohl could quit Sheffield Wednesday at the end of the season amid growing concerns about Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the boss will walk away if he is offered a new role.
Rohl has enjoyed an impressive season on the pitch, with Wednesday currently 13th in the Championship despite early-season predictions of relegation.
However, constant controversy surrounding Chansiri’s ownership including failure to pay players and staff have led to calls for the owner to step aside.
This has led to seemingly constant issues behind the scenes at Hillsborough, including clashes with the manager, with no immediate end in sight for the Owls.
Southampton were interested in appointing Rohl following Russel Martin’s dismissal, and could return after Ivan Juric stepped down.

The boss is also a target for Leicester City amid speculation about Ruud van Nistelrooy’s future, and was a target for West Brom before the appointment of Tony Mowbray.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience working closely with managers and owners at the top level including spells at Man United, West Ham, Sunderland and more, has insisted Rohl will not be happy to continue under current conditions.
“The situation at Sheffield Wednesday is awful,” he told Football Insider.
“I was speaking to somebody who works there and he said to me ‘…at least we got paid this week.’
“I didn’t realise he hadn’t been paid – so I looked into it and saw the situation with the chairman and owner there, he’s not been paying the players or staff for months at a time.
“There’s more going on than just that, but that’s the main issue.
“I thought you could get big punishments for not paying wages, so I think that’s why they’ve now been paid to prevent that happening.
“Anyway, keep an eye on the manager’s position because there has been a lot of talk about him.
“With the situation there, I don’t find it surprising at all that he could walk away.
“If nothing changes with this unstable board, he’s not going to want to stick around for much longer.
“It’s a shame for Sheffield Wednesday, but I think if one of these clubs like Southampton or Leicester come in for him, he will go.”

Wednesday respond to Southampton’s Danny Rohl interest
Football Insider revealed in December that Wednesday would do everything to keep Rohl amid interest from Southampton – who was previously the assistant manager at St Mary’s.
He signed a new long-term contract at Hillsborough in the off-season after leading the Owls away from the relegation zone last term.
However, continued behind-the-scenes turmoil has increased speculation about his future and there is a growing feeling he could now walk away.
