Danny Rohl may have already cost Rangers vs Motherwell with horrific selection decision

Danny Rohl may have just shot his Rangers team in the foot with his selection decision for Saturday’s clash with Motherwell.

The Gers’ latest meeting at Ibrox is another that could potentially be pivotal in their bid to try and fight their way back into the Premiership title race, as the third and fourth placed teams go head to head in Govan.

Rangers slipped to defeat against Hearts last time out, in a frustrating afternoon that saw the performances of several players leave a lot to be desired.

Rohl has slowly begun to turn the team’s fortunes around and build a reputation for himself with the Glasgow giants, but that could now be about to take a hit.

Youssef Chermiti extremely lucky to start for Rangers

Bojan Miovski has struggled to find consistency for Rangers since his move from Spanish side Girona in the summer.

The ex-Aberdeen frontman returned to Scottish football with big expectations attached, after he enjoyed a prolific two-year stint at Pittodrie prior to his move to Spain.

However, it simply hasn’t gone to plan for the North Macedonian so far, as he has managed just five goals from 21 appearances in all competitions.

Rangers fans branded Miovski as “anonymous” in the defeat to Hearts last time out, but he is in a reasonable run of form at the moment, having struck three goals in his last three games.

Youssef Chermiti scored a consolation goal for Rangers in their defeat to Hearts last time out, and Rohl has opted to push him ahead of Miovski from the off this time around.

The Portuguese may be full of confidence after his goal last time out, but he has been horrifically inconsistent this season, and prior evidence suggests that he is likely to be unable to pick up where he left off at Tynecastle.

Rangers will have to make the most of their opportunities if they are to claim three points on Saturday, and with that in mind, Chermiti’s lack of quality in front of goal could come back to bite them.

Danny Rohl desperately short of goalkeeping options

Rangers fans have been calling for Jack Butland to be replaced for several weeks now, but Rohl has been stuck between a rock and a hard place in terms of the goalkeeping position.

The German has obviously been unable to strengthen his hand in that department outside the transfer window, but the other options at the club are simply not at the required level in order to sufficiently challenge Butland.

The Englishman is starting between the posts yet again for the clash with Motherwell, even if the confidence in him from around the club is rapidly decreasing.

There is no genuine alternative available to Rohl at the moment, and as a result, it would be no surprise to see that position become a major priority to strengthen in January.
