‘Danny Rohl to accept Leicester City offer after Van Nistelrooy sacked’

Danny Rohl would be open to taking over at Leicester City as Ruud van Nistelrooy is expected to be sacked following their relegation.

That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, exclusively told Football Insider that Rohl is one of a number of managers on the shortlist at the King Power Stadium.

Leicester are believed to have been impressed with the manager’s performance at Sheffield Wednesday under difficult circumstances given the club’s off-field issues.

This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Rohl could quit Sheffield Wednesday amid ongoing concerns about Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership.

Wednesday currently sit 12th in the Championship, having been among the favourites for relegation after they survived by just two points last season.

However, Brown told Football Insider on 28 April that Russell Martin is leading the race to become the next Leicester manager.

Leicester set eyes on Danny Rohl, Russell Martin and Sean Dyche

Brown told Football Insider on 7 April that Van Nistelrooy will be sacked by Leicester after a disastrous season since his appointment.

Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience working with elite-level managers including Sir Alex Ferguson for over a decade at Man United, has insisted Rohl would be a good fit to replace Van Nistelrooy at the King Power.

Leicester are looking at a number of managers for the role,” he told Football Insider.

“They want to be solid and have a clear direction of where they are aiming to go and how they’re going to get there.

“Russell Martin is a name on their list, Sean Dyche is another, and they’ve also looked at Danny Rohl.

“It’s a job Rohl would be interested in because of the situation at Wednesday, he’d take that opportunity to move away from it all.

“He’s done an impressive job there, so it comes as no surprise Leicester have looked at him.

“The manager has earnt himself an impressive reputation and might be ready for that step.

“They’ve overperformed a bit this season considering where they were expected to finish, he’s clearly a good manager, and it could be a move which suits them both.

Wolves and Wrexham race to sign Jamie Vardy

Alongside the likely departure of Van Nistelrooy and the ongoing managerial search, Leicester have also been struck by the news at Jamie Vardy is leaving the club.

Football Insider exclusively revealed Wolves are eyeing a move for Vardy as sources say he would prefer to stay in the Premier League for the remainder of his career.

Wolves are keen to add his experience and goals to the squad at Molineux this summer as they prepare to lose star man Matheus Cunha.

Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider that Wrexham will explore a deal to sign Vardy and are prepared to make a big offer to tempt him to move.
