‘Danny Rohl to quit Sheffield Wednesday amid Rangers interest’
Danny Rohl could walk away from Sheffield Wednesday amid speculation linking him with the soon-to-be vacant Rangers role.
That is according to former Man United chief scout and Sir Alex Ferguson number-two Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that Rohl’s future at Hillsborough is uncertain.
Barry Ferguson took over as the interim replacement for Philippe Clement earlier this year, but with just two games remaining, the search for a permanent option is well underway.
Football Insider revealed Rangers are prepared to back their new manager with significant financial backing in a bid to challenge Celtic.
Meanwhile, Brown told Football Insider on 7 April that Rohl could quit Sheffield Wednesday amid growing concerns about Dejphon Chansiri’s ownership.
The boss’ performances in the Championship have attracted interest from a number of clubs after guiding them to 12th despite pre-season fears of relegation.

Rangers target Danny Rohl after Sheffield Wednesday latest
Brown told Football Insider that Rohl is a target for Leicester City and would be open to taking the job as he eyes a move away from the South Yorkshire side.
The former scout who has a wealth of experience working closely with elite-level managers including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson and Ron Atkinson in over a decade at Man United, has insisted Rohl is also among the candidates for Rangers.
“Danny Rohl has a very good reputation,” he told Football Insider.
“There’s a lot of uncertainty at Sheffield Wednesday after the end of the season, everybody’s future is up in the air from the manager to the staff.
“It’s all down to the owner and the way he has acted since taking over.
“It’s because of him that Rohl is looking to leave because he wants to get away from all of that.
“Whenever a job has come up, he’s being linked to it because he’s done a very good job there and there’s always going to be interest.
“Rangers are among those teams who have been having a look at him.
“They want to resolve their managerial situation so it doesn’t take up the whole summer.
“They need to establish a clear direction and the first step towards that is bringing in a new manager.”

Steven Gerrard now leading race for Ibrox role
Rohl is not the only boss to have been linked with the Ibrox role as they approach the end of Ferguson’s spell as interim boss.
Football Insider revealed on 3 May that Steven Gerrard is the leading candidate for Rangers ahead of the likes of Marco Rose and Jose Mourinho.
The boss has previous success at Ibrox, having led them to their most recent SPFL title in 2021 without losing a single league game as they picked up 102 points over 38 games.
This comes after Brown first told Football Insider in November Gerrard has opened the door to re-join Rangers and has admirers in the boardroom at Ibrox.
