Danny Rohl’s stance on Nicolas Raskin joining Tottenham revealed
Danny Rohl is extremely reluctant to lose Nicolas Raskin during the January transfer window despite suggestions Rangers could consider offers.
Reports have claimed Rangers could cash in on Raskin to raise funds, which would then be reinvested into their squad to bolster the options available to the boss.
As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, while Rohl would understand the reasons for letting the Belgium international leave, the midfielder has become a key part of his plans and there are no intentions of weakening his squad.
Raskin clashed with Russell Martin earlier this season, but has regained his position in the starting XI since his departure given the new manager’s position.
Prior to Rohl’s appointment Raskin confessed he wants to be “loved” by a manager, hinting that the opposite had happened at Rangers, but that could be reversed.

Danny Rohl plans to block Nicolas Raskin sale
Football Insider revealed on 16 November that Rangers are expecting offers for Raskin ahead of the January window, although a summer deal is more likely.
Despite the growing interest and potential significant price tag that would come with his sale, Rohl would ideally block any potential departure mid-way through the season.
Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “I think ideally Rangers would like to keep hold of Nicolas Raskin in January.
“I’m sure Danny Rohl would too, he has been key for the new Rangers manager in recent games as they picked up three wins in the Scottish Premiership.
“There was interest in Raskin in the summer window from a number of clubs, Premier League and across Europe as well, so I’m sure there is still interest in the Belgium international.

“Rangers are expecting further interest in Raskin in January and next summer as well, and they’ll just be hoping that his price tag will continue to rise.
“As I said, he’s a key player on that team and Danny Rohl, although he would understand if the club were to cash in on him, he’ll be hoping that he can keep hold of him.”
Tottenham hope to lure Raskin away from Rangers
Despite Rohl being extremely reluctant to lose his star player, a number of clubs across Europe and in the Premier League are hopeful of securing his signature.
Football Insider revealed on 17 October that Raskin could be tempted to leave Rangers amid growing interest from some top clubs including Tottenham.
Meanwhile, former Man United chief scout told Football Insider that Premier League clubs want to sign Raskin and have been keeping tabs on his performances.

European giants including Porto and Napoli were also keeping a close eye on the midfielder amid suggestions he could have his head turned by the interest.
However, Football Insider later revealed that Tottenham could miss out on Raskin as the Ibrox club are unlikely to sanction his departure in January.
