Danny Welbeck sends message to fans after tearing Chelsea apart
Danny Welbeck has sent a message to fans after he tore Chelsea apart in Brighton’s surprising win on Friday (14 February).
It was a Valentine’s Day to remember for the Seagulls as they ended up dominating the Blues in what was Chelsea’s heaviest defeat of the Premier League campaign so far.
A Yankuba Minteh brace followed a goal from Kaoru Mitoma as Fabian Hurzeler dominated their way to three points to progress to eighth in the Premier League table.
The victory was Brighton’s second against Chelsea in less than a week after they knocked the Blues out of the FA Cup last Saturday (8 February), with the club responding well to their heavy 7-0 loss against Nottingham Forest.
It was also Brighton’s first clean sheet since their 16 January win against Ipswich Town, showcasing the defensive side of their team.
The Seagulls will be back in action next Saturday (22 February) against Southampton in the Premier League.
Danny Welbeck had amazing stats in Brighton demolition of Chelsea
Welbeck picked up two assists against Chelsea, as he played his role in the victory by linking up with his attacking teammates.
The 34-year-old striker took to Instagram after the game to celebrate the win with the Brighton fans.
He said, “Top performance from the boys!! Have a great weekend Seagulls.”

Danny Welbeck continues to be a Premier League goal threat for Brighton
Welbeck might be one of the older members of the Brighton squad, but he is continuing to show no signs of slowing down on the pitch.
The former England international has scored six goals and provided four assists in 19 Premier League appearances this season for the club.
Welbeck remains under contract at the Amex Stadium until the summer of 2026.
