Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliott react to Liverpool ace Endo’s ‘thank you’ message

Wataru Endo has received shows of support from several Liverpool teammates including Harvey Elliott and Darwin Nunez following his latest social media update.

The midfielder played an important role for the Reds, often coming off the bench to see out some crucial wins this season, as they claimed the Premier League title in Arne Slot‘s first season in charge.

There is now likely to be plenty of change at Anfield this summer, as Liverpool look to put together a squad that can maintain and build on that success in the 2025/26 campaign.

For now though, Endo has instead been able to focus on issues away from Merseyside, after a spell on international duty with Japan.

Wataru Endo helps Japan to a big win

Going into this latest international break, Endo and his national team had already secured their qualification for the World Cup in North America next year.

As a result, a 1-0 defeat to Australia with a much-changed starting lineup late last week will not have been a huge concern for Japan.

Even so, Endo was restored to the starting lineup as the Samurai Blue responded with a 6-0 thumping of Indonesia on Tuesday (10 June) to conclude their qualifying campaign in emphatic style.

Following that win, the Liverpool midfielder took to Instagram to both reflect and look ahead, as he wrote: “Thank you for supporting the Indonesian match! Rest well and prepare well for the new season!”

In response, teammates such as Elliott, Nunez, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister and Luis Diaz showed their support by liking that post.

Some of those have seen their futures up for speculation this summer, and Football Insider has reported that Elliott could move to a Serie A club this summer.

Meanwhile, it is understood that Liverpool expect Nunez to leave in the transfer window amid their search for a new centre-forward and his recent struggles in front of goal.

Liverpool midfielder may have thoughts on his own future

Football Insider Verdict

Endo played a key part for the Reds in the finished role this season, which was a major help for them in picking up the results that earned them the title.

As a result, many around Anfield will surely want him to stay, although with an established midfield of Mac Allister, Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai, it is hard to see him being a regular starter.

That may mean he wants to weigh up his own options if he feels he would prefer to enjoy more regular game time elsewhere.

That could be particularly pertinent for the Liverpool star this coming season, since he is going to want to be as well prepared as possible for that World Cup next year.
