Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah, Diogo Jota, Alisson: Liverpool injury updates on 11 players

Liverpool currently have 11 first-team players out injured, including superstars Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota.

The Reds remain at the top of the Premier League table after their 4-1 win against Brentford on Saturday afternoon, but the swathe of absentees will cause Jurgen Klopp a real problem as they vie to remain at the summit.

Against the Bees, Liverpool were forced to replace both Diogo Jota and Curtis Jones – both of whom will be unavailable for Sunday’s (25 February) League Cup final against Chelsea at Wembley.

They are next in action on Wednesday evening (21 February) against relegation battlers Luton Town at Anfield but could be without some of their finest assets.

Mohamed Salah

Salah returned from injury against Brentford as Jota’s replacement and notched a goal and an assist to help secure the Reds’ win.

However, he has reportedly aggravated the recent muscle injury he sustained while away at AFCON with Egypt and will not be available for selection against the Hatters.

Darwin Nunez

Nunez started the clash against Thomas Frank’s side but was hauled off at halftime, with Klopp revealing that it was a precaution following a slight muscle issue.

While his return date is unknown, he is not expected to face a lengthy spell away from first-team action.

Diogo Jota

Jota was replaced late in the first half against Brentford following a collision with Christian Norgaard and Football Insider understands he is expected to miss up to two months of action.

He is set to miss the League Cup final having been pictured leaving the Gtech Community Stadium on crutches after being stretchered off the field with a knee injury.

Curtis Jones

Jones was another casualty of the Brentford win and, like Jota, was seen using crutches after the clash.

His ankle injury is not expected to be as significant as Jota’s setback, but he is also set to miss the final.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Alexander-Arnold was absent from the squad against the Bees after sustaining a knee injury in Liverpool’s win against Burnley earlier this month (10 February).

The club have already ruled him out for the final, but he is expected back in the next few weeks.

Alisson Becker

The Reds’ number one is set to return to action in Match after picking up a hamstring in training.

He was absent for their victory against Burnley due to illness but subsequently picked up his knock and was out against Brentford, with Caoimhin Kelleher coming in to replace him.

Dominik Szoboszlai

Szoboszlai is another huge blow for Liverpool and has missed the last three league clashes with a hamstring injury.

The 23-year-old has been one of Klopp’s best players this season, but he is a significant doubt for the cup final.

Thiago Alcantara

The Spaniard has been plagued with injuries since his move to Anfield.

He has seen just five minutes of action this season after picking up a hamstring injury in his cameo appearance against Arsenal, while his expected return date remains unknown.

Stefan Bajcetic

Bajcetic is yet to return to full training after picking up a calf injury early in the season.

The 19-year-old has managed just two appearances in all competitions and is not expected back in the immediate future.

Joel Matip

Matip’s season looks to have ended after successfully undergoing surgery for an ACL injury in December.

He may have played his last game for the Reds with his contract set to expire in the summer.

Liverpool

Ben Doak

A major knee injury he picked up while playing for the under-21s looks to have ended Doak’s season.

He tore his lateral meniscus and is not expected to play a significant role in Klopp’s final season at Anfield.
