‘Darwin Nunez to play surprising new Liverpool role’ as new details emerge
Liverpool supporters are adamant that Darwin Nunez is set to undergo a positional change under Arne Slot after new stats have been revealed.
Whoscored.com confirmed that the 25-year-old has made more fouls (15) and made more tackles (14) than he has had shots on target (seven) this season in the Premier League.
It has led to an outcry from Reds fans who believe Nunez should take a page out of Newcastle United’s Joelinton and drop into midfield.
The Uruguay international has only scored three goals and provided two assists this season across 18 appearances in all competitions, but has been a consistent part of Slot’s team.
Football Insider has previously revealed that Slot is looking to strengthen his defensive midfield options after the club missed out on Martin Zubimendi during the summer transfer window.
However, some Liverpool fans have floated the possibility of dropping Nunez into a deeper position which could add an extra option for him.
Liverpool supporters want Arne Slot to experiment with Darwin Nunez
Nunez has spent his career playing as a striker for club and country, but Liverpool supporters believe he could be well-suited to a midfield transition due to his pressing ability.
Nunez has proven he has no problem getting stuck into the defensive side of the game throughout his spell at Anfield, which is why fans have admitted they “like” the idea of him becoming a midfielder.
