David Gold delivers transfer message, makes promise to West Ham fans

By Derek Smithson

David Gold has promised West Ham fans that new signings will be made despite a slow start to business in the transfer window.

The Hammers have added Pablo Zabaleta on a free transfer following his departure from Manchester City and he remains the only new addition so far.

Slaven Bilic’s side will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing 11th-placed finish in the Premier League last season and may need some considerable improvement to their current squad.

West Ham’s joint chairman Gold has vowed on Twitter that the club will bring in some more summer reinforcements and urged supporters to be patient.

“What we all need right now is patience. New signings will be made,” Gold wrote on his personal Twitter account.

West Ham fans may not have to wait much longer for another new addition as Sky Sports report that Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart is set for a medical at the London Stadium on Monday.

It is believed that the 30-year-old will join the Hammers on loan and they will have an option to complete a permanent deal a year later.

He would rival Adrian and Darren Randolph for the goalkeeper position if he signs, with him unable to force his way into Pep Guardiola’s plans at Man City.

West Ham were vulnerable defensively last season and conceded 64 goals in their leagues games.

In other West Ham transfer news, their target has been valued at £22.5million by Stoke.
