Centre-back Ogbonna joined the Hammers from Italian side Juventus during the summer of 2015.
The 28-year-old impressed during his first season at the club as he helped them finish in a European place.
Additionally, Ogbonna had played 19 Premier League games for Slaven Bilic’s side their term before suffering a season-ending injury last month.
The Irons purchased Southampton defender Jose Fonte during the January transfer window, which allowed the former Juve man to have surgery on his knee.
Bilic was full of praise for his player when he revealed the news as he also stated that Ogbonna played the first part of the season through injury.
In other West Ham news, David Gold has defended this 27-year-old.
