David Moller Wolfe: Stats show why Rob Edwards must return star to Wolves line-up after Norway display

David Moller Wolfe once again put on a show for Norway in their 2-1 defeat to the Netherlands on Friday.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers left-back has remained a key player for the Scandinavian side despite his lack of game time at Molineux.

On Friday, he once again showcased his abilities as he picked up an assist in the friendly defeat.

Now, Rob Edwards has to look at giving him an expanded role in the squad in preparation for the Championship.

Below, Football Insider has examined how the full-back could play a big part in Wolves’ promotion push next season.

David Moller Wolfe continues to show quality for Norway

Moller Wolfe lost his place in the starting XI for Wolves in late December, with Hugo Bueno taking over the reins at left-back.

However, with Bueno likely to attract suitors in the summer, the Norway left-back could be called upon to take over once again.

Based on his performance against the Netherlands, he is more than capable of stepping up.

In the friendly, he created one chance, won all of his ground duels, made four clearances and completed 84 per cent of his passes on top of getting his assist.

Overall, he was no doubt one of their best players on the night as he prepares for the upcoming 2026 World Cup.

With Wolves’ season now essentially over, Edwards should look to give Wolfe more minutes in preparation for the Championship.

If these performances can be replicated in the second tier, he will dominate the left flank and be a vital asset.

As a result, getting him more up to speed with his tactics, it could give the Old Gold side an advantage for the start of next season.

Newcastle eye Hugo Bueno

Football Insider had exclusively revealed that Newcastle United are targeting Hugo Bueno.

This will come as little surprise to many Wolves fans, with the full-back being one of the club’s best players in the second half of the season.

As the summer transfer window draws closer, this interest is likely only going to broaden, especially if his form continues.

Therefore, Moller Wolfe needs to see this as an opportunity to become a regular starter once more and show the Molineux crowd why he was brought in last summer.
