David Moyes is ‘at loggerheads with West Ham’ – expert says ‘all the boys are asking for him to be sacked’
West Ham United chiefs will keep David Moyes at the club if they win the Europa League.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hammers and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie was adamant that there was “not a chance” the Scotsman would leave if he guided them to Champions League football.
Moyes, who has been criticised by much of the fanbase, is out of contract at the end of the season and, as revealed by Football Insider (9 March), talks between him and the club regarding a new deal have been put on hold until the summer.
While the Irons’ league form has often been poor, they sit seventh and have the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final against Bundesliga leaders Bayer Leverkusen next month (11 April).
Europa League win guarantees David Moyes stays at West Ham
McAvennie believed Moyes would pen a new deal if he could bypass Xabi Alonso’s side and go all the way, but noted that Liverpool still being in the competition is the “only problem” for them.
“David’s at loggerheads with the club,” he told Football Insider.
“I don’t care how much of a West Ham fan you are but if in the next games they play like [against Aston Villa], you’ll be happy.
“All these boys asking for him to be sacked – and I’ve always said he needs to let the players off the chain – but I don’t mind him staying.
“If they win the Europa League and get Champions League football then there’s no way he’s leaving.

“There’s not a chance and they have a huge chance of winning the Europa League.
“The only problem is that Liverpool are still in it!”
