David Moyes must make bold Tyrique George call as Everton ‘weigh up’ Chelsea purchase option

David Moyes must be prepared to vouch for Everton triggering their option to sign forward Tyrique George permanently this summer.

The Toffees are currently “weighing up” whether they want to keep the Chelsea loanee permanently according to Nizaar Kinsella, despite him receiving limited opportunities to impress during his loan spell.

The 20-year-old started just one Premier League game for the Merseysiders after making the switch from Stamford Bridge in the January window, much to the frustration of the Everton supporters.

Moyes regularly used the promising youngster in a cameo role from the bench, leaving many to believe that the boss didn’t fancy him or think he could make a telling impact from the start.

Everton want to add attacking quality once again this summer, and George has surely shown enough flashes of quality to be worthy of a permanent deal.

David Moyes must do the unexpected with Tyrique George

Everton fans have been expecting George to return to Chelsea at the end of his initial loan spell, given how little Moyes has used him in recent months.

However, there has arguably been enough evidence to suggest that the boss should be looking to do the unexpected and encourage a permanent transfer.

It would be a bold call from the Scot, but George can provide valuable energy and directness to an attack that still needs work if the team are to make a genuine push for European football next term.

He has regularly impressed when coming from the bench, and notably in the 2-2 draw away at Crystal Palace at the start of May, when he immediately became a thorn in the side of the Eagles with his creativity.

Chelsea are clearly prepared to let the starlet go after they inserted the purchase option as part of the loan deal, and Everton should be looking to take advantage of their chance to land a top talent.

George’s versatility would also make him a valuable option over the course of a full season, but if Everton are to get a deal done, then Moyes must surely put more faith in him.

George a far better option than current Everton winger target

Everton are lining up a move for Abdul Fatawu this summer, with the Leicester wideman up for sale after the Foxes’ shock relegation to League One.

The Ghana international impressed with 16 league goal involvements in a struggling side this term, but George would surely be a far better option for the Toffees to sign.

Fatawu is still relatively unproven at Premier League level, and his signing would represent something of a gamble as a result, whereas George is already a known quantity.

Moyes and the rest of the squad know exactly what to expect from the Chelsea starlet, and although he hasn’t made a major impact so far, it is clear that there is much more to come from him.

With that in mind, he would surely provide a better option than the recruitment team rolling the dice on a new face, who would perhaps take several months to adapt to the level of football.
