David Moyes to leave West Ham after talks with duo – sources

David Moyes is set to leave West Ham United this summer after the club held talks with Ruben Amorim and Julen Lopetegui.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the “writing is on the wall” for Moyes, 61, after the Hammers’ courting of potential replacements.

Sporting Lisbon boss Amorim, 39, jetted to London last week to meet with West Ham chiefs to discuss a potential move – a decision he publically apologised to his club for.

It is believed that former Wolves boss Lopetegui, 57, has also held talks with the club regarding the soon-to-be-vacant manager job at the London Stadium.

David Moyes set to exit West Ham this summer – O’Rourke

Moyes’ contract is set to expire at the end of the season and there has been no movement on him penning a new deal.

O’Rourke suggested that there were “doubts” from both Moyes and Hammers chiefs regarding the Scotsman’s long-term future at the club, with the hierarchy eyeing a different approach to their play style for next season.

Reportedly, Moyes and technical director Tim Steidten have fallen out this week amid the latter’s ongoing search for a new boss.

The head of recruitment has been asked to stay away from Moyes and the first-team squad for the remainder of the campaign and O’Rourke claimed this rift suggests that Steidten wants a new manager at the helm.
