David Moyes told to complete two West Ham signings and bin senior duo – expert

West Ham need to prioritise the signatures of two new centre-backs in the transfer window.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hammers and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie claimed that two new central defenders must be the priority when the time comes.

The pundit believes such reinforcements would be an improvement upon current duo Kurt Zouma and Konstantinos Mavropanos.

Fellow central defenders Angelo Ogbonna and Nayef Aguerd meanwhile have not been used by David Moyes in recent matches.

The Hammers conceded four goals at Newcastle United on Saturday (30 March) as they lost 4-3, before conceding another to Tottenham in their 1-1 draw on Tuesday (2 April).

As per the official Premier League website, only bottom three clubs Sheffield United (77), Burnley (66) and Luton Town (62) have conceded more league goals than West Ham (55) this season.

West Ham told what area they must strengthen

“I’d bring in two centre-backs first and foremost, that’s what Moyes must do, he has no choice, really” he told Football Insider.

“There are a couple of centre-backs out of the picture at West Ham now.

“Two centre-backs are needed. Unless there is something wrong with Ogbonna, get them in, because they’ve got to be better than Zouma and Mavropanos.”
