David Moyes ‘trembling’ over Danny Ings issue at West Ham – expert

David Moyes needs to be very careful about how he uses Danny Ings at West Ham after he picked up a knee injury on his debut.

That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

West Ham are hovering dangerously above the relegation zone in the Premier League, with only goal difference keeping them above 18th-placed Everton.

Everton

The Hammers hae scored just 18 goals in 21 league matches this season – an issue Moyes is trying to address with the signing of Ings in January.

The 30-year-old completed a £15million move from Aston Villa in January but suffered a knee injury during his debut for the club in the 2-0 win over Everton last week.

Dinnery insists Moyes’ number one priority at the London Stadium will be keeping Ings fit after signing him as a “short-term fix”.

“The arrival of Danny Ings in January was not only for the medium and long term but he was seen as a good short-term fix for the Hammers,” Dinnery told Football Insider.

“When Moyes saw him pick up that injury on his debut against Everton he must have been trembling.

“The Irons have massively struggled for goals this season, with neither Michail Antonio nor Gianluca Scamacca providing enough firepower.

“Ings has been brought in to fix that, but the number one priority will be keeping him fit.

West Ha

“West Ham gave Ings an injection in the knee he injured and it clearly helped him make a small 10-minute cameo against Newcastle last Saturday.

“He’s had another week under his belt to recover but Moyes should still be extremely wary and careful when monitoring him.”
