David Moyes ‘wishes he’d walked away’ after West Ham ‘disaster’ – expert
David Moyes regrets staying at West Ham United this season after their “disastrous” performance against Crystal Palace on Sunday (21 April).
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, former Hammers and Celtic striker Frank McAvennie claimed that Moyes, 61, now wishes he’d departed the club at the end of last season after their Europa Conference League triumph.
The Irons were humiliated against the Eagles in the 5-2 defeat at Selhurst Park – their fourth consecutive game in all competitions without a win.
Pressure continues to mount on the Scotsman, who has managed just four wins since the new year, with Football Insider revealing (24 April) that he has privately informed friends that he expects to leave the club at the end of the season.
David Moyes’ time at West Ham United to come to an end?
McAvennie slaughtered the West Ham side’s recent form and their attitude while warning Moyes that football is a “results business”.
“It looks to me as if the players have completely downed tools,” he told Football Insider.
“It looks like they don’t care.
“Against Palace, there wasn’t a single good performance and the boys coming on from the bench aren’t good enough – it was disastrous.
“That has to change.
“I think David might now be wishing he’d walked away after the Conference League win so he could get that big statue outside the stadium.

“He’s done brilliantly for West Ham, but he will know as well as anyone that it’s a results business.
“Four wins in 2024 is not a good stat.”
