West Ham are currently set for a return to the Championship in what has been a dreadful season to date.
The Hammers have struggled throughout the season, and despite the appointment of Nuno Espirito Santo at the London Stadium, little has changed.
Saturday’s 3-0 defeat against Man City has left the East London club 18th at Christmas, a position that currently seems unlikely to change.
Many are now backing West Ham to go down, in what has been a dramatic fall off from their Europa Conference League-winning season, just three years ago.
Much of this comes down to David Sullivan, and now with the Hammers five points from safety, the co-owner has nowhere to hide.

In many ways, West Ham are fortunate it was not more, with Nottingham Forest losing their game in hand to Fulham 1-0 on Monday.

Now, it appears that the Hammers have a steep hill to climb if they have any chance of avoiding the drop.
Yet, there was a sense that this was completely avoidable.
Upon David Moyes’ departure in 2024, West Ham were in a solid position and could have easily pushed back up the table.
However, a series of terrible managerial appointments and transfers have seen the East London club dip from regulars in Europe to favourites for relegation in just two years.
While Sullivan has previously gotten away with his poor ownership at West Ham due to their recent success, the incompetence of the businessman can now be seen by everyone.
Now, unless he backs Nuno in January, relegation appears certain.
What are West Ham’s plans in January?
Despite their current predicament, West Ham are set to operature with a limited budget in January.
£50million could be given to Nuno to spend as he attempts to keep the Hammers afloat.
Whether this will be enough to bring in substantial quality is another question, with numerous positions needing reinforcements.
Only time will tell if Nuno is able to pull off this miracle and keep West Ham in the Premier League.
