David Sullivan has really let everyone down at West Ham after Premier League scenes on Sunday

David Sullivan’s reputation at West Ham is about to take yet another significant hit.

The Hammers’ chairman is a hugely hated figure among the fans at the London Stadium, with many feeling that he is responsible for the club’s stagnation in the bottom half of the Premier League.

Nuno Espirito Santo is under massive pressure at West Ham after they were beaten 1-0 by Fulham on home turf on Saturday, a result which left the team five points clear of safety.

Matters on the pitch are a huge concern for the East Londoners, but they have just received a big reminder as to the significance of Sullivan’s persistent failings.

David Sullivan has let West Ham down with Dominic Calvert-Lewin failure

Niclas Fullkrug finally looks set to leave West Ham in the upcoming January transfer window, as the club prepare to bring his disastrous spell to a close.

The German has completely failed to adapt to the Premier League, and his time in England looks likely to come to an end after just three goals across an 18-month period.

And yet, West Ham could have replaced the 32-year-old with Dominic Calvert-Lewin last January, according to West Ham Zone.

The capital club were understood to be preparing an approach for the Englishman shortly before the expiry of his contract at Everton, as he was outlined as an ideal replacement for Fullkrug.

However, Sullivan and Co. never progressed their interest, and Calvert-Lewin ultimately joined Leeds United as a free agent in the summer.

He has since found a rich vein of form for the newly-promoted outfit, and he notched his seventh goal in his last six games to earn his team a 1-1 draw away at Sunderland on Sunday.

Strikers have provided plenty of issues for West Ham over the years, and Calvert-Lewin possesses the Premier League experience and the clinical finishing that could have resolved those problems.

Sullivan has gained a reputation for failing to get transfer deals over the line, and looking to cut costs wherever possible, and it is clear that he has let everyone at the club down once again with this failure.

Graham Potter will be totally miffed by Calvert-Lewin success

Sullivan quickly showed Graham Potter the door after a woeful start to the current campaign, but the former Hammers boss is within his rights to be feeling totally miffed by Calvert-Lewin’s recent success.

The 50-year-old was effectively forced to work with both hands tied behind his back during his time at the London Stadium, as the club failed to progress their interest in several attacking targets.

Potter was ultimately made to pay for the lack of firepower within the squad, but he could certainly argue that he wasn’t provided with the necessary resources to do his job properly.

Calvert-Lewin is a talismanic figure when he is in good form, and Potter’s time at West Ham may well have turned out differently had he been able to add him to his squad.

The failure to land the former Everton man is also harming Potter’s predecessor, with Nuno similarly forced to work with a distinct lack of quality striker options.

That has been a consistent pattern at West Ham in recent years, and it appears to only be a matter of time before another manager falls to the same fate.
