Davies is transformed under Conte after 'amazing' Tottenham reveal - pundit

Paul Robinson has heaped praise on Tottenham defender Ben Davies for his “amazing” form in recent weeks.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former White Hart Lane number one claimed the 28-year-old is “flourishing” under the management of Antonio Conte.

Davies starred on Sunday as the Lilywhites boosted their top four hopes with a 3-0 win over Norwich City.

Conte has played the defender in a left centre-back role since his arrival in north London.

However, Robinson does not believe Davies would get in any of the top four sides in the Premier League.

“He is flourishing under the new manager,” he told Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs.

“Like a lot of players at Spurs, I think he’s benefitted from a new voice and a new challenge.

“He clearly enjoys playing the left of a back three. It’s his best position but I still don’t think he’d get in any of the top four sides in the Premier League.

“He is playing amazingly well right now though. Long may it continue.”

In an interview with The Athletic (2 December), Davies said “The new boss [Conte] has really got us running, really got us working. We’re intense and we feel much better for it.

“It was one of his main messages when he came in. We knew we needed to improve and his attitude is we have to be the best in the aspects that we can control, and physicality is definitely something we can control.”
