De Bruyne to Liverpool: Stefan Borson drops ‘absolutely staggered’ verdict
Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne has been linked with a move to Liverpool once his time at the Etihad comes to an end this summer.
De Bruyne has confirmed he will leave Man City when his contract, which is believed to be worth around £20million a year, expires on 30 June.
The Belgium international has registered six goals and eight assists in 37 appearances this season.
Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio reported on 7 May De Bruyne has already received a proposal to join Liverpool this summer.
However, former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider he would be “extremely shocked” if the 33-year-old made the move to Anfield.
De Bruyne has spent the past decade with the Manchester giants after signing from Bundesliga side Wolfsburg for £55million in 2015.

Kevin De Bruyne wants huge salary after Man City exit
Borson insisted De Bruyne would want to earn a similar wage to Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.
He told Football Insider: “They might be able to do it, but they won’t do it, not unless De Bruyne is prepared to take a very big pay cut from what he’s currently on.
“I think that might be possible if De Bruyne goes to a club where he’s the biggest earner.
“But if you’re to go to Liverpool where you know because it’s all over the press that Van Dijk and Salah are on £400,000 a week each, and I would think De Bruyne would say ‘I’ll come but I would like a similar sort of salary’.
“I just don’t think they’re even interested. I’d be absolutely staggered if they did that deal. When they’ve already got two players in their mid-30s, who are going to be mainstays of the team next season, I can’t see any possibility that they want to add a third experienced player.
“It is Kevin De Bruyne, but there’s big question marks over his fitness and his ability to play a 60-game season next season. I’d be extremely shocked if that happened.
“But good luck to De Bruyne if he can get Liverpool to pay him £400,000 a week or something.
“I wouldn’t have a problem with it personally, but it might tarnish some City fans’ views. But at the end of the day, City can’t have it both ways. City have finished with him.
“He wanted to stay, but City wanted to terminate the contract, so City can’t have any issue with him going off to any team.”

Liverpool’s three-man signing plan revealed
Football Insider revealed on 12 May Liverpool are prioritising signing a new striker, centre-back and left-back in the upcoming transfer window.
The Merseysiders’ transfer business will also be dictated by player sales, with the likes of Darwin Nunez expected to leave the club and open up space for deals.
The addition of a new left-back has risen up Arne Slot’s list of priorities following doubts about the performances and longevity of Andy Robertson.
