Deal all but done: £500k-a-game Aston Villa player wraps up exit to join top-flight club on loan - report

Kilmarnock have sealed a deal to sign Aston Villa midfielder Aaron Tshibola on loan for the rest of the season, according to a report.
The Daily Record claims that the Scottish Premiership club tied up the signing of Tshibola, 23, on Sunday night and all that remains for the deal to be done is the official confirmation from both clubs.
It is understood that Tshibola travelled to Scotland over the weekend to complete his loan exit from Villa Park and is now due to join in with his first training session with Steve Clarke’s Killie on Monday morning.
Tshibola has been a massive flop for Aston Villa since he was signed by Roberto Di Matteo for £5million from Reading in the summer of 2016.
Since then, the midfielder has made just 10 appearances – amounting to him being worth £500,000-a-game for the West Midlands club.
He spent the first half of the season on loan at MK Dons but that agreement was terminated after a series of poor performances and just 16 appearances.
Clarke was assistant manager at Villa when Di Matteo signed Tshibola, who is now heading to the Scottish top-flight in order to stop his career from falling into the abyss.
Football Insider verdict
It seems that Aston Villa would have probably liked to have offloaded Tshibola on a permanent basis but no one was willing to buy the player who has been pretty terrible since moving to Villa Park. He has barely kicked a ball in the first-team and has now been shipped out on loan for the third time after spells at MK Dons and Nottingham Forest. £5million was such a stupid amount of money for a recently relegated team to spend on a young, relatively unproven, midfielder. Villa’s transfer policy has been bizarre over the past few seasons and it has only really begun to look any good under Steve Bruce. He would have no doubt liked to have got right of Tshibola for good though, but a loan is the next best thing.
