Rangers are close to securing a deal to sign Brighton defender Connor Goldson, according to a report.
The Daily Record claims that the 25-year-old will jet into Glasgow this week to undergo his medical at Ibrox and that a deal has already been agreed between the Scottish giants and the Premier League outfit.
It is understood that the deal should be wrapped up in the coming days and he will be the fifth new arrival under Steven Gerrard.
Brighton centre-back Goldson looks set to follow Scott Arfield, Allan McGregor, Jamie Murphy and Ovie Ejaria through the entrance doors this summer.
Football Insider verdict:
Goldson’s proposed switch to Rangers has been talked about a lot in the last couple of weeks and it looks like he could finally be confirmed early next week. The defender looks set to complete a £3million switch to join the Light Blues and he could turn out to be a potential bargain. He is a 6ft 3in (source: Transfermarkt) powerhouse centre-back that is brilliant in the air and confident in possession too. Rangers need a commanding figure to come into their backline for next season and he could really set the tone if he hits the ground running in Scottish football. Goldson appears to be extremely close to becoming the next Gers signing with just the formalities of a medical to go through, but his arrival is another positive step. Rangers’ squad is already beginning to look a little bit more talented and it will be key to see how the new arrivals settle.
