Everton’s hopes of bagging PSV Eindhoven sporting director Marcel Brands are in tatters, according to a report.

The Sun details that the 56-year-old, dubbed a “transfer guru,” will not be arriving at Goodison Park despite claims that the signing of the Dutchman was already a done deal.

The Sun claims that the Blues have not had any contact with the Eredivisie side since last year when they first enquired about his availability.

Brands is highly regarded in his homeland, where he is credited with being one of the key components behind AZ Alkmaar’s championship-winning success in 2009.

Football Insider verdict:

After seeing what Brands did at a very average Alkmaar side, this will be a big disappointment for Everton fans, whose club is in desperate need of some help in the transfer market. Steve Walsh has been regularly criticised for his lack of originality at pinpointing and signing targets, and want to see more creativity coming into the side. It’s starting to look as though this club needs a complete overhaul – from the management and their backroom staff if Farhad Moshiri is going to see any bang for his buck.
