Dean Henderson sends ‘familiar’ Man United message after Crystal Palace win
Crystal Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson posted on Instagram to celebrate his side’s 2-0 victory over his former club Man United at Old Trafford.
The English shot-stopper kept a clean sheet as Jean-Philippe Mateta scored twice to secure all three points for Oliver Glasner’s side, who leapfrogged United in the league standings.
Palace’s first goal came from a well-worked free-kick, with Maxence Lacroix’s looping header bouncing off the bar and falling perfectly for Mateta to tap in.
The second was a slick counter-attack, as Ismaila Sarr played a precise pass through United’s defence, allowing Daniel Munoz to square it to the Frenchman for an easy finish.
Following the victory, Henderson shared his thoughts on Instagram and said: ““Always a special feeling to play at Old Trafford and see some familiar faces! Huge W and clean sheet. Come on Palace”.
Crystal Palace capitalise on Man United defensive struggles

The goalkeeper has been a key figure for Glasner’s side, making 27 appearances across all competitions and starting every Premier League match this season.

Palace signed Henderson in 2023 for around £15 million [BBC Sport], and he has been ever-present in the team since. Meanwhile, after United brought in Andre Onana that same summer, Henderson had no clear pathway at Old Trafford.
Onana’s performances this season have drawn criticism from some fans, with questions raised over his consistency.
Ruben Amorim’s side have now conceded 34 goals this season and sit 13th in the table—one place below Palace in 12th.
Their defensive struggles were exposed once again in this match, particularly for the second goal, where Harry Maguire was at fault. His contract extension last month was met with scepticism from some United supporters, and performances like this reinforce those concerns.
Football Insider Verdict
For Palace, this result marks three wins in their last five matches, signalling a resurgence after a poor start to the season. With 30 points on the board, they are well clear of any relegation concerns that some may have feared earlier in the campaign.
As for Henderson, this victory will be particularly satisfying against a club that handed him just 13 appearances before moving him on.
